How to Change / Reset the IP Address
The Atola Insight Forensic unit uses following default IP setting: 192.168.0.188
Network mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway and DNS can be left empty or be set to any value.
Changing the IP address:
The Atola Insight unit will be delivered with a default IP address, but it can be changed
to any necessary address (for a LAN connection) with an included program:
C:\Program Files\Atola Insight Forensic\DSEthernetUpdate.exe
( C:\ is assumed to be the root system drive - change the [C:] accordingly if necessary )
Starting with version 4.3 it is possible to change IP via Insight > Modify DiskSense Unit IP menu
Resetting the IP address to the default value:
- Turn the unit off
- Press + hold the IP RST button (rear of unit) turn the unit on and wait until the LED stops flashing.
- Now the unit should have the default IP address set.
You might need to correct the IP address in the software too - either you will be asked to do
that because the software can't find the connection when starting it the first time after resetting,
or you need to use the software tool mentioned above.

ISSUES with the connection / setting of IP address:
If you cant get a connection - i.e. cant access the Atola device with the software:
(The unit will be shipped with the default value + the software will install automatically
the default value - you shouldnt have to change / modify anything. So if you face
an issue, please first check whether you have activated your unit according to the
explanation for the 1st time installation.)
1) reset the Atola unit to its standard default IP address (see above explanation)
and run above mentioned DSEthernetUpdate.exe to configure the software
accordingly. Set the ethernet port of the pc connected to the Atola tool to a
different IP address within the same range as the Atola tool.
I.e. if the Atola tool is set to the default value, the IP address for the ethernet port
192.168.0.155 + Network mask 255.255.255.0 should work (if not used from
an other device).
To be clear - even if you have resetted the IP address of the Atola unit, you
need to define that with the DSEthernetUpdate.exe to configure the Atola
software accordingly. After that dont forget to configure the pc´s ethernet
port IP setting within the same range.
2) deactivate any additional ethernet port / adapter within your pc
if you need to have a 2nd ethernet port, then use the USB3 to ethernet adapter
supplied with the Atola tool.
3) deativate the firewall and deactivate the anti virus software
4) Set up the Atola software and try the Atola tool with a different pc or laptop
