NET Framework 4.6 / 4.6.1
In rare cases with Windows 7, 8 and 10 one can face an issue with the 4.4 upgrade and an installed
MS NET Framwork 4.6: Allthough the MS NET Framework 4.6.x is installed, the Atola update
tries to install MS NET Framework 4.6 again, which does not work and stops the installation.
One can bypass this situation as follows:
- Run the regedit.exe Registry Editor with administrator privileges
- Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Client in Registry Editor
- Change 'Release' key value (remember this value for later use) to 393297
- Close the Registry Editor
- Install Atola Insight Forensic and run it
- Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Client in Registry Editor
- Change 'Release' key value back (to the value you found before)
- Close the Registry Editor
Explanation:
MS NET Framework Version 4.6.1 will be installed for the newest version of Windows. Its different
release number (compared to version 4.6 for the previous Windows edition) causes the conflict.
